In New Delhi, the Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement on Friday advising Indian citizens to avoid involvement in the current conflict in Ukraine. This advisory comes in light of reports indicating that some Indian nationals have taken up support roles within the Russian army.
MEA’s official spokesperson, Randhir Jaishwal, stated, “We are cognizant of the fact that a small number of Indian nationals have enlisted for support roles with the Russian army. The Indian Embassy has consistently raised this issue with the appropriate Russian authorities, advocating for their prompt release.”
Moreover, the statement stressed, “We strongly encourage all Indian citizens to exercise extreme caution and avoid engagement in this conflict.” Additionally, India officially asked Russia to quickly release certain Indian individuals who are working in supportive roles within the Russian military. This request was made on Friday by New Delhi, which advised its nationals to stay clear of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, now in its two-year duration.
